Hand wash

Whenever possible, it's best to hand wash your cashmere accessories rather than machine wash them. Fill a basin with cold water and add a mild, pH-neutral detergent. Instead of using conventional laundry detergent or purchasing a cashmere-specific product, you can use an organic shampoo. Stir the water gently to spread the product, then dip your accessory in and swirl it around gently to clean. Avoid rubbing or twisting the fabric, as this can damage the delicate fibers. Then rinse in cold water until the detergent is completely removed.

Machine wash

If you prefer to machine wash your cashmere pieces, use the wool program, specially designed to preserve the delicacy of the fibers.

You can also place the item in a delicates washing bag. Wash only cashmere items together, use cold water, and avoid spinning to preserve the fibers.

Drying

Avoid wringing out your cashmere accessory when it is wet, as this could twist and distort the fibers, and thus its shape.Lay the cashmere flat on a dry towel and let it dry naturally. Keep it away from heat sources like radiators or direct sunlight to avoid any risk of shrinking or discoloration.

Storage

Store your cashmere creations in a cool and dry place. Use cotton or linen bags to protect them from dust and moisture. If you plan to store them for a long time, make sure they are completely clean and dry to prevent mold. It's best to fold them, but if you must hang them, use padded hangers to preserve their shape.

Protection against moths

Moths love cashmere as much as we do, because they're attracted to the natural proteins in wool fibers. They thrive in warm, humid environments, making proper storage important. Keeping your accessories clean is the best prevention. Before storing them, make sure they've been freshly washed. To repel moths, place cedar or lavender sachets in your closets or drawers; these natural repellents are effective and leave a pleasant scent.
